By the early seventies the membership of the club had grown by such an extent that it was felt that larger premises were required. The committee left the secretary to find a site for the new club and he looked at three possible options. The first of these was a site across from the Argyll & Sutherland Bar. This site was rejected as it was felt to be near the Argyll & Sutherland Bar and that there may have been difficulties in getting approval due to this. The second site examined was opposite the CLR club in Nelson Street. This site was felt to be too close to the CLR club. The third and final site to be examined were premises owned by Fan Systems Ltd., an engineering company, at 193 Dalrymple Street on the corner of Laird Street. After discussion it was decided to purchase this site for the sum of £10,500, a Mr Carrick was the manager of Fan Systems at that time.

A local Architect, Mr Drew Forbes of Kelly Street was commissioned to design the new clubrooms. It was initially estimated that the cost would be £56,000, the final cost was £177,000. In line with the normal method of paying for such building work, payment was made for agreed stages of the development.

The committee approached the local council for a loan to fund the development but this was refused as the club was not a sports club. Tennent's Breweries, as in the past agreed to provide a loan facility to the club in order that the site for the new premises could be developed.

The premises at Westburn Street were sold to the Boilermakers Society for use as a social club, eventually that club folded and the premises were subsequently purchased from them by the Regent Club and are now used as Clubrooms by that club. The Celtic F.C. Supporters' Club, Greenock moved into the new clubroom during 1975. the executive committee at that time were - President Malcolm Murray; Vice President, Bennie McDade; Secretary, John Dougan; Treasurer, John Cannon.

During the building of the new club groups of members would go along on a Saturday morning to inspect progress. The new clubrooms at 14, Laird Street, Greenock were officially opened on February 1975 by Mrs Brennan, the mother of Jackie Brennan, discussed above. The new clubrooms comprised two storeys as follow; in the ground floor there was an entrance foyer, contributions room, committee room, a television room, main hall with a bar, snooker table, pool table and darts board. The first floor comprised a large hall with seating around a large dance floor, stage, lounge with bar. Both ladies and gents toilets were in both floors. The postal address of the site changed from 193, Dalrymple Street to 14, Laird Street as the entrance to the building was to be from the relatively quiet Laird Street rather than the much busier Dalrymple Street.

The layout of the first floor area has substantially remained as originally designed, although they have been refurbished since moving to the new premises. During 1988 the ground floor area was substantially refurbished with the bar, snooker table, pool table, dart board all refitted and the television room taken over by the refurbishment ground floor seated area. The refurbishment cost £114,000. During September 1985 the club celebrated its Fortieth anniversary. Each member of the club received an inscribed whisky glass as a memento of this milestone. An article on this achievement appeared in the Celtic View of 9 October 1985 under the headline' Forty Years Faithful Following. The article stated:-
"… The oldest member club of the Celtic Supporters' Association celebrated their fortieth anniversary during the month of September. The Greenock Club has been in continuous registration for forty years making them our oldest club."

The club has striven over the past fifty years to support Celtic F.C. in every away possible. This has been done by organising buses to matches, by placing a premium on behaviour which upholds the name of Celtic and by taking part in the activities of the Association which are beneficial to Celtic. The Celtic share issue of January 1995 gave the club another opportunity to demonstrate its support and commitment to Celtic. The club decided to invest around £25,000 in the share issue as a tangible and substantial demonstration of this support. The investment also allowed the club to show its support in another way when Mr Peter McLean, Celtic F.C.'s public relations officer asked if the application for shares from our club could be publicised to assist in making the share issue a success. Indeed in the Glasgow Herald of 21 January 1995 it is stated:-
' He ( Mr. Peter McLean) was also quick to detail the application of the Greenock Celtic Supporters' Club to be registered for £25,000 of shares'.

The tenor of the article was one of trying to find out if the share issue was going to be successful with, I suspect the hope that it was not. As everyone is aware the issue was the most successful of any football club in Britain, more successful than that of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur or Newcastle United. The club's application was used to illustrate the success of the issue in The Times (London) of 25 January 1995 which, inter alia, stated:-
' The frenzy had mounted all last week, with £1 million being taken in by the club on Friday alone. Some of the investments hinted at high emotion and extreme sacrifice with, for example, a supporters' club from Greenock, a town ravaged by unemployment raising £25,000.'

It is unlikely that fifty years ago it would have been considered by the most optimistic of those present that the club which they were to found in St. Patrick's Church Hall would become what it is to-day. With 386 member, 51 honorary members, 2 honorary members, 2 honorary life members; premises valued at £250,000; and with a shareholding in Celtic F.C. Indeed it surely would not have entered the minds of current members let alone those who founded the club fifty years ago that the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer of the club would have attended a meeting in the boardroom at Celtic Park with a director of Celtic F.C. to discuss the club's possible investment in Celtic. Such is the distance traveled in the past fifty years, but most things have not changed. The core values which underpin the club of unstinting support to Celtic F.C.; providing the most providing the most comfortable clubrooms and most generous membership benefits for its members, both active and retired, have not changed.

Comparison with the financial standing of the current position of the club to that in the past are not accurate given the effect of inflation, nevertheless it is worth illustrating the changes which have taken place. The balance sheet at 31 December 1963 showed that the clubrooms were valued at £5,600. By 1973 the clubrooms were valued at £25,000 and in 1983 the clubrooms were valued at £128,639. At December 1994 the clubrooms were valued at £250,000.

Over the years the club has been concerned with building good relationship with those professional advisers it uses. Until his retrial in December 1994 the club has used the Services of Mr Reid of Messrs. Twaddell and Reid Certified Accountants for over forty years. The club has been with the same legal practice, even though it has went through a number of amalgamations since the 1950s. The forty years unbroken association with Tennent's Breweries has already been commented upon.

Longevity in office bearers has also been a keynote of the club. John Dougan was secretary of the club from 1962 until his retrial from office in 1989. John Cannon, treasurer and Tommy Hughes contributions convenor held office over a similar period.

It has been difficult to find the names of presidents of the club in the period 1945 to 1955. The only names which can be ascertained for the fifty years form 1945 to 1995 are H. Morrison, Frank Kilbride, James Gavin, James Murray, Donald Harley, Hugh Trainner, John Porter, Malcolm Murray, Patrick Reynolds, George Alford, John Campbell, Patrick Clark, Daniel Morrison, Charles Lynch.
